Aid agencies exercise significant financial, technical and logistical power in their mission to save lives and reduce suffering. In contrast, the disaster survivors have no formal control and often little influence making it difficult to hold these aid agencies to account. Those affected need to be key participants in design, planning, implementation and evaluation, share intervention information and provide the beneficiaries with an opportunity to give feedback to the agencies.
